The Child Development Corps Training Coalition
The Child Development Corps Training Coalition is part of a comprehensive effort to improve the community-based early care and education training system in Alameda County.
The goals of the Training Coalition are:
- To form a partnership among agencies providing community-based, non-credit-bearing training to early care and education professionals in Alameda County
- To expand community-based professional development opportunities
A Community Review Panel selected the following eight agencies to receive a Training Coalition Grant.

The Infant Toddler Consortium will be providing in-depth training series of 12 parts to 96 family child care providers on caring for infants and toddlers. |
| Through the Looking Glass |
Child Development |
Through the Looking Glass (TLG) will offer an eight-part training to family child care and center-based providers on developmental theory/practice relevant to children 0-5 with disabilities, medical or developmental concerns and children who have parents with disabilities or medical issues. |
| Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the East Bay |
Social Emotional |
Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) will provide a one-year training series on behavior management for family child care and center-based providers. The training curriculum will build on the work of Linda Brault and her book Children with Challenging Behavior: Strategies for Reflective Thinking. |
| Kidango |
Social Emotional |
Kidango will offer a four-part training series designed to provide family child care and center-based providers with an in-depth look at the foundations of effective practices that promote social-emotional development. |
| Museum of Children’s Art |
Social Emotional |
The Museum of Children’s Art (MOCHA) will offer a four-part training series on practices that support the developmental growth of young children through the teaching of art-based activities. |
| UCSF: Childcare Health Program |
Health & Safety |
The Childcare Health Program will provide advanced health and safety training for ECE professionals to be certified as Child Care Health Advocates. |
| Joy of Sports Foundation |
Health & Safety |
The Joy of Sports Foundation will implement a series of trainings for providers who work with 3-5 year olds from low income communities on nutrition and physical activity to address childhood obesity in young children. |
| Collaborative of Family Child Care Associations of Northern Alameda County |
Business & Management |
The Collaborative of Family Child Care Associations will offer trainings on basic computer skills to family child care providers including: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and web-page design. |
